Stretch marks are the bane of a woman’s existence and often give cause for stretch mark prevention. In looking at how to prevent stretch marks, we must first look at what causes them in the first place. Stretch mark prevention is probably the key here, because stretch marks are obviously much easier to prevent, than they are to get rid of!

Stretch marks are just like they sound, marks caused by stretching skin. Pregnancy, rapid weight gain or loss and even other things like weight lifting can cause stretch marks also known as striae, in the medical community. What causes them is really beside the point, however, because once they appear, they are difficult to get rid of.

Stretch Mark Prevention – What is Fact and What Is Fiction?

There are all kinds of wives tails out there, some which work, and some, which do not when it comes to preventing stretch marks. The easiest way to prevent them is to avoid gaining or losing weight rapidly, although that is easier said than done. There are many reasons why someone might gain or lose weight rapidly, including pregnancy and hormones. Women who happen to have a propensity to gain a lot of weight quickly during pregnancy just need to be aware that they may be more prone to stretch marks, if they do gain quickly, so they can try and take steps to prevent it.

stretch mark prevention

Teenagers can gain weight quickly as well, especially when hormones start to kick in. Short of trying to avoid gaining weight too quickly, keeping the skin moist and hydrated is probably the second easiest way when it comes to how to prevent stretch marks. When it comes to stretch mark prevention, there are many lotions, potions and creams on the market to help saturate the skin, to keep it from scarring and developing those awful stretch marks in the first place.

One can use fancy lotions, stretch mark creams or even plain old-fashioned baby oil to get the job done, but it still may not be enough when it comes down to it. It could be in the end that genetics plays a role when determining whether or not you will develop stretch marks. It certainly doesn’t hurt to lather up with your favorite oil, when trying to prevent stretch marks. It probably doesn’t matter what kind of cream or oil you use, as long as you use it!

Natural Stretch Mark Prevention

You could use olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, or even sunflower oil if you wanted. You could use baby lotion, vitamin e, almond oil and even flaxseed oil if you wanted. Just taking steps to keep the skin moist will go a long way. The best thing you can probably do, is try and keep yourself hydrated, by drinking a lot of water, because this keeps you moist from the inside out.

Stretch marks are not fun, but they aren’t the end of the world either. Sometimes our scars are meant to be worn proudly, like a badge of honor or courage. Having stretch marks means that you most likely accomplished something magnificent, like losing a lot of weight or having a baby. Perhaps we should be proud of our stretch marks, and take steps to show them off and highlight them!

People pierce their skin and bodies just to be piercing it, and they love showing their various piercings off, so why not show your stretch marks off! Just something to think about the next time you look at yours. Having stretch marks is probably not the worst thing that will ever happen to you in the end. I don’t think most of us would care that much about stretch marks, if we happened to come down with a terrible disease.

I think we need to put stretch marks in their proper perspective; they’re not the worst thing that could ever happen to you. They just may actually be the best thing that can happen to you, because having stretch marks means you have achieved something wonderful and miraculous. Whether or not you have stretch marks or not, it is my humble opinion that you should wear them proudly. Perhaps we can begin to look at our stretch marks, as a notch on our belt, or a part of our courageous journey instead – but if not, stretch mark prevention is a necessary strategy.

We have all seen them at one time or another; those ugly squiggly, feathery lines on our bodies -and now it is time to learn how to get rid of stretch marks. They come in all shapes, sizes and colors. If you have recently given birth or lost a large amount of weight, you know what I am talking about. Stretch marks; but how to get rid of stretch marks is another story all together. There seem to be many home remedies for getting rid of stretch marks. I never paid that much attention to my stretch marks, but if they bother you, then you might want to consider trying some of these home remedies, before you consider running out for laser surgery or some other kind of expensive treatment.

How To Get Rid Of Stretch Marks – The Easiest Way.

The easiest way to get rid of those unsightly stretch marks is to give them time, plenty of it, because just as time heals all wounds, it also heals stretch marks, because just like scars, they tend to fade with time. If time isn’t on your side, or you simply don’t want to wait that long, then you might want to try something like the tried and true remedy for a stuffy chest, Vic’s vapor rub! Although I’ve never tried it, it may be worth a shot, because it isn’t expensive to buy and it smells kind of cool if you ask me.

how to get rid of stretch marks

How about trying some sunbathing? Some schools of thought have indicated that tanning may dim stretch marks and scars, but be sure to wear sunscreen so you don’t end up doing more damage. What about trying some vitamin E capsules or gel, break open a capsule and rub it on and you’re good to go; it’s certainly worth a try. All you need to do to get started it take a trip up to your favorite drugstore.

Exfoliating may help you learn how to get rid of stretch marks as well, because you are in essence rubbing off layers of skin, helping the new skin come through. It has also been said that taking hot baths and massaging the area on a regular basis might help as well, just don’t take too hot of a bath if you are still pregnant, because too much heat is not a good thing for an unborn child. Be sure to check with your doctor if you are expecting and you want to try some of these remedies; don’t take any chances just to get rid of a stretch mark or a scar.

More Advanced Strategies On How To Get Rid Of Stretch Marks.

If you want to get a little fancier, try some Retin-A cream, because it has been shown to significantly reduce the unsightly appearance of stretch marks. This is another one to be careful with if you are still pregnant, because Retin-A may not be suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding moms, again, check with your doctor first and foremost.

Last but certainly not least, creams and lotions abound, and you can’t go wrong using some of these, and they probably won’t hurt you either. Just run up to the drugstore, or open your own medicine cabinet and you will most likely see a large selection. Women have used everything from castor oil, rose hip oil, cocoa butter, vitamins A, E and C, and even emu oil, believe it or not.

Some common medical procedures for how to get rid of stretch marks, include things like laser therapy, microdermabrasion, something strange called a endermologle machine, chemical peels and of course the old standby, cosmetic surgery. It seems there are many ways for one to get rid of those nasty things called stretch marks. You can try rubbing them off, massaging them off, sunbathing them off, and even chemically peeling them off. You can use the old tried and true methods like Vic’s vapor rub or cocoa butter if you want, and you can even try peeling a potato and leaving it on for a day, if you had nothing better to do, although I just made that one up for kicks. Stretch marks are nature’s mark, and you should not be ashamed to wear them, for they all tell a courageous story. You can try and get rid them if you want, or you can wear them proudly and with honor. In the end, I think it’s more interesting to tell a story – but it is just as important to learn how to get rid of stretch marks.

People have been trying to figure out how to get rid of things for years, including unsightly scars - one common and effective solution is laser stretch mark removal. Women who have stretch marks are no exception, because stretch marks in are essence scars.

The Laser Stretch Mark Removal Method

There are many methods when it comes to stretch mark removal, one of which is laser stretch mark removal. We have all seen lasers at one point or another, whether it be on television, at the movies or in the doctor’s office. Lasers are the latest and greatest technology when it comes to stretch mark removal. But how do they work and what can you expect?

The one thing to keep in mind is the fact that all surgery is risky, even minor surgery on something like skin. Basically, laser surgery involves the use of a laser beam. These types of laser beams are designed to remove thin layers of the skin, where the stretch marks happen to form. Typically, a kind of ointment is used prior to the laser as a sort of pre-treatment. There are different kinds of laser treatments, so it is important to do your homework, when it comes to selecting the exact treatment that will work for you.

laser stretch mark removal

One type of unique treatment used is called fractional laser treatment. This type of laser is used to help the skin rebuild collagen and it works by sending heat deep into the many layers of the skin, helping the skin rebuild itself. This kind of process is meant to reduce the tears that occur in the skin which result in stretch marks, and laser stretch mark removal is meant to diminish the appearance and make the skin look more natural.

How Quick Can Laser Stretch Mark Removal Help?

Even though this process seems high tech, it still takes time to notice results, because everyone’s skin is unique. Don’t expect to go into your doctor’s office for a one quick visit and notice immediate results, because great work takes time.

It is important to follow the doctor’s advice for aftercare as well, because the skin will need to be taken care of properly, and not abused after the scars have healed. Having said all of this, laser stretch mark removal, is still a great way to go, compared to other methods. The skin can only be stretched so far before it starts to tear, and stretch marks appear as a result of this.

Stretch marks are not the end of the world though, if you think about it, because there are worse things that can happen to you. Stretch marks can appear on different areas of the body including the stomach, the legs, and even the breast area; basically any area on the body that may stretch as a result of weight gain or loss.

It is this author’s opinion that we need to put stretch marks in their proper perspective and give them the respect they deserve. Stretch marks basically mean you have achieved or accomplished something great, like losing a large amount of weight or giving the gift of life, each of which is no small feat. Stretch marks do fade over time, so if you wait long enough, they may just fade away! Yes, they might seem annoying or unsightly, but unless you are a supermodel who is getting photographed all day long, chances are you may not need to worry that much about them. Even supermodels really don’t have to worry about them though, in the age of airbrushing.

Airbrushing hides many an imperfection, kind of like make-up. The next time you look at a fancy magazine cover, try and look closely to see if you notice any imperfections on the models body. Chances are good, that you will not see anything out of place, because the photos are airbrushed to death. Perhaps someone should invent an airbrushing technique for stretch marks that work as quickly and easily as something like laser stretch mark removal! It would certainly be easier and less painful in the long run. If they can invent airbrush make-up, why not airbrush laser removal? Just something to think about, the next time you look down and see a stretch mark. Perhaps they are not the evil we once thought they were! One can only hope laser stretch mark removal remains effective going into the future.

Find out here and learn what’s really important in life.
The Ultimate Road Map On How To Prevent Stretch Marks During Pregnancy is a post from: Stretch Mark Prevention

If you’re a mother and you have experienced childbirth, chances are good that you have experienced stretch marks or at very least, wondered how to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy. Stretch marks are one of those unavoidable evils for anyone who has gone through the experience or the process of pregnancy. But how to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy is another topic all together. There are many wives tales when it comes to preventing stretch marks. Let’s look a few of them now.

Some of the wives tale I have heard include the fact that if you don’t have any stretch marks by the 4th month of pregnancy, you won’t get any at all, but I’m not so sure of that because up to the 4th month, you really don’t gain that much weight, so it’s kind of hard to tell whether you will get stretch marks.

How To Prevent Stretch Marks During Pregnancy: what *doesn’t* work!

Another wives tale when it comes to stretch marks is that you will never get stretch marks if your mother didn’t. ! I’m not sure if either of these rumors are true, but you won’t really know until you actually get pregnant and find out for yourself.

We may not ever really know how to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy, but the truth of matter is that whether or not you get stretch marks could just be genetic. It could very well be that you either get them, or you don’t, it’s as simple as that. There are some common sense types of things you can do to prevent stretch marks, the first of which is to try and not gain too much weight, but often times that is easier said than done. Pregnancy causes you to crave certain foods, I know because I ate like a horse during my pregnancy and I just didn’t seem to be able to control it much, although I tried to eat right as much as I could. Basically, I ate everything in site and gained 40 pounds, which wasn’t really that bad compared to someone gaining 80 or 100 pounds I suppose. I did get stretch marks in the end, but they were never that bothersome in light of the fact that I was so thrilled to be pregnant and I was so excited about the thought of being a mother.

how to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy

How To Prevent Stretch Marks During Pregnancy: Hydration is Key.

Short of eating right, it is also important to hydrate the skin and body while you are pregnant, so that your skin doesn’t dry out too much. More common sense I know, but I wanted to mention it anyway. There are many ways to lubricate your skin to help prevent stretch marks from rearing their ugly head, including using things like coconut oil, baby oil, olive oil, vitamin e, vitamin a, and any other type of lotion, potion or cream your heart desires. It probably goes without saying that you should always drink a lot of water, because water is the elixir of life.

In light of everything I have been through in my life, I’m not sure stretch marks are the worst thing that could ever happen to me. It seems that we just need to put stretch marks into their proper perspective. Do what you can to prevent them by eating healthy and slathering on the cream and oil, and move on. It is my philosophy that our scars and our stretch marks make us who we are, because they are proof that we have survived this perilous journey called life that can beat us down so. We need to focus on those things that are really important, like having a healthy body and a healthy baby to start with. Let’s face it stretch marks are not really that important if you don’t have either one those two things.

I suggest wearing your stretch marks proudly, like a badge of honor. Be proud of your amazing accomplishments, for they are proof of your journey. Stretch marks provide us with a wonderful map, and help us to remember what is really important in life. It is important to remember, that life is supposed to be about the journey, and not the destination. Remember that the next time you look down at your beautiful stretch marks, for they remind you of the beautiful journey you are on – but this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t learn how to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy for the future.

In order to talk about stretch mark removal, we must first talk about what stretch marks are in the first place. If you have never heard of stretch marks, or have never had any, I congratulate you. If you have, I’m right there with you. Many of us are familiar with stretch marks; because they are indeed just as they sound, strange marks that appear as our skin stretches. Skin is meant to stretch and flex to some extent, but if it stretches too quickly, then it essentially tears, leaving little marks.

How Does Stretch Mark Removal Work?

Our skin produces collagen and something called elastin, which helps it stay strong and soft at the same time. Sometimes the skin heals itself, but other times it does not, leaving scars or marks. There are many things that cause stretch marks, and stretch mark removalcan be challenging. Not only do pregnant women get stretch marks, but so can body builders, and those experiencing a change in hormones or those experiencing growth spurts or rapid weight loss or even gain.

stretch mark removal

The bad thing about stretch marks is that they really can’t be removed completely, but the good thing is they do fade over time. You can get stretch marks in many different places including but not limited to: stomach, hips, breasts, back and shoulders, upper arms, thighs and even on your buttocks.

The best strategy for stretch mark removal.

When it comes to something like stretch mark removal, prevention is often the best medicine. There are even some schools of thought that tell us that the capacity to get stretch marks is actually hereditary, so if your mother never got them, you may not get them as well. Having said all of that, assuming you have stretch marks, how do you go about getting rid of them?

Prevention is the best medicine, so taking steps to eat healthy and drink a lot of water during pregnancy will help you in some respects. There are many remedies, when it comes to removing stretch marks. Home remedies include things like creams and lotions, vitamin A cream, cocoa butter, almond butter and even olive oil have been known to be effective. You can try a more natural remedy and break off a piece of aloe vera, if you happen to have a plant sitting around, or you simply try massaging the area or taking a hot bath. You could exfoliate, peel, or try and scrub your stretch mark out, but I wouldn’t recommend that last one.

You can even try tanning your stretch marks away or use some self-tanning creams, just don’t overdue it or you may end up looking a little strange. You can opt for the surgical route as well, and try laser treatment or you can even have a tummy tuck, if your skin is lose and needs to be tightened, and you have plenty of money to spare!

Who can benefits from stretch mark removal?

Stretch marks are not just for women either, because anyone who loses or gains weight quickly could get stretch marks. When you experience rapid weight loss or gain, your hormones get out of sync and you don’t produce enough collagen to keep your skin smooth and subtle, and your skin doesn’t heal as quickly and it loses its elasticity. Body builders, teenagers, and for that matter, anyone is at risk for developing stretch marks; you just seem to hear about them more, as it pertains to pregnancy and childbirth.

There are many ways to remove stretch marks, or so it seems. In the grand scheme of life, we have to ask ourselves if it is really worth it in the end. In this age of airbrushing and photo enhancement, we have to ask ourselves if it is really worth the effort to remove them or care about them in the first place. The bottom line is this, if your stretch marks bother you, then do something about them, but don’t do it for someone else, do it for yourself. We have the right to care for ourselves any way we see fit. Whether or not you choose to show off or cover up is your choice. I think we should be proud of our scars, because they have made us the incredible person we are today – but if you are concerned, stretch mark removal may be for you.
